La Collection x Alain Hens
La Collection is pleased to announce a new exhibition, in collaboration with Alain Hens, taking place from March 1st until mid-May 2024 at La Collection’s Flagship Store. This partnership highlights the intersection of art and fashion, bringing together works from renowned artists Simone Lacour and André Bogaert, in partnership with Alain Hens’ gallery.
Alain Hens, a visionary in the art and design world for over two decades, has always sought to elevate the unnoticed. As one of the first online traders in 20th century furniture and modern art, he has spent years curating and collecting rare design pieces. Rejecting trends in favor of timeless discovery, he has built a reputation for his sharp eye and instinct for unearthing hidden artistic value. As he puts it: “I look for the overlooked.”
André Bogaert
André Bogaert (1920–1986), a Belgian abstract expressionist, explored multiple media, including paintings, sculptures, mixed-media pieces, and large-scale panoramas. He was known for his experimental approach, working with discarded industrial materials—including elements from the textile industry—bringing structure and depth to his compositions.

Simone Lacour
Simone Lacour (1926–2016) was born in Antwerp but primarily active in France. Her internationally recognized work spanned ink compositions, jute paintings, assemblages, and her signature “Vélumes” shaped canvases. Her artistic ethos aligns with Antwerp’s spirit of craftsmanship and reinvention, a philosophy also central to La Collection. Above all, she was a pioneer, working as a Belgian woman at the forefront of the Parisian avant-garde. As such, she was essentially part of the ‘seconde école de Paris’ and exhibited alongside works by Soulages, Hartung, and Poliakoff.
